Wixey Digital Fence Gauge
I bought one of these some time ago and can now say that it has been well worth it. Gone are the days of trial measurement, shave it until it fits etc. This gauge has literally changed the way I use a saw, measure and cut. I know that a lot of people would not see the need but try it and you will be convinced. Digital is creeping into our world and it will be better for it, we just need convincing.

You can find the Wixey range at PWS
No proprietary interest in the product/manufacturer or retailer, but I have seen the Saw Fence Digital readout at Chris' and it looks blinken good!Pat

Just thought I'd mention that I've just ordered the wixey TS fence guage, and the thicknesser guage from woodcraft in the US. When you buy the TS guage, it comes with a digital angle gauge free.
Cost (not including shipping) is US$160, which is about A$180 at the moment given the good exchange rate.
Not sure what the shipping is at the moment, but should work out to be a good deal. Happy to post shipping costs if anyone is interested.
This is my first foray into buying equipment from the US, so hope it goes well.

Mini, how is the battery life with it?
I have the thicknesser digital gauge by wixey, and its great, but it goes through batteries quickly. Not a big problem, well worth having. It has added speed to getting exact thicknesses, and is repeatable.
The tablesaw gauge is next on the list

I have had the TS gauge for some months now and the battery seems to be holding up well considering that I sometimes leave it on for a week at a time when I forget.

according to the blurb the on off switch only works the back light. The battery in the angle indicator lasted not quite 3 months.

Shipping was US$54, bringing the total to US$213, which is about A$245. Arrived a week or two ago - I get to open it tomorrow.
Not that my bloody jet TS has arrived yet. Seems to be coming from Siberia by dog sled...

I have a few Wixey products and they work well, but why can't they make them to take AA batteries?
It is not as if there was any space restriction on the design of the table saw unit, the thicknesser unit has just had a re-design to a digital block like the table saw and the angle gauge could have been any size - in fact ALL of them could have been readily made to take AA batteries without any substantial change in dimensions.
So why use an odd size battery with a limited shelf & service life that you have to pay a premium price for, instead of a common, readily available type?
