Thread: Wixey Digital Saw Fence Readout Fitting Warning

Posting this in the hope that it prevents it from happening to those that don't know, as I fitted mine today.

The two drill bits that are supplied with the kit for the fitting of brackets and bolts, throw them out.

I looked at them before I started as I had heard of a few people complaining about the bolts shearing off before they had screwed home. I believe the reasons for this happening is the drill bits, not the bolts themselves.

Both drill bits are incorrectly ground and one had the part of the lip on the flute missing altogether, with the incorrect grind and missing lip the holes will come out undersized which would mean the bolts have to cut more material then they're designed too.

As you see from the first image of the 3.5mm bit, the two cutting edges are very different in length

I just used a 3.5mm & 5.5mm from my set of drill bits, or in Imperial you could use 9/64" & 7/32"
