    Post Zinken MIA6

Ive been using my antique combo machine for a few years now, mainly for sawing, and I now need to change the saw blade. Does anyone know what direction the arbor nut unscrews. I have tried both directions and its unbudgeable so before I really force it I'd better make sure. If anyone has a manual, I would gladly pay any expenses in either copying or uploading it.

If there is any thread showing past the retaining nut, you should be able to see which way the thread starts.
If the blade hasn't been removed for a considerable time, it will have tightened itself. Usually it will be a normal right hand thread on the right side of the blade facing in the feed direction. Give the nut a good soak in Reducteur (from Bunnies), wait 5 minutes, put as thick a bar as will fit in a gullet of the blade across the table at the infeed side of the blade, put a well fitting ring spanner on the nut and give it a belt with a hammer. Works (nearly) every time.

Thanks graemet, I will try that product when i can next get to B'ings. Have tried Wd40 and Inox so far no good. There is no thread showing at all but it wont move either way.

The nut will nearly always unscrew in the same direction as the blade rotates. Using a ring spanner will preserve the corners of the nut, an open ended spanner will round off the nut when you belt it and then you're in deep doodoo. Reducteur is not like WD40, it's a releasing agent, pricey but a can will last you forever. I was able to dissemble a Hills Hoist that had been in the yard for over 30 years and was rusted solid.
