10" thicknesser/planer new fence.
While I was upgrading the dust port for this machine I was reminded that the locking fasteners for the fence were broken and that the fence was not flat across the vertical so I decided to do something about that.
Fortunately I happen to acquire an interestingly shaped piece of 10 mm ally plate that was very flat and after trimming off some mm sized tags and bits here is what I have come up with. 99% of the shape including the length is how I found it.
The mounting mechanism uses two new pieces of 5mm thick angle and 6mm stubby Allen screws. Drilling an tapping the 8 mm deep blind threads was a little challenging but not too bad. For extra security these screws are loctited in place.
And another view for fun.
While it it would have been better to have the full height all the way along the fence, the height is full right where it's needed and that's what matters.

Forgot to mention the round over on the top edges was done with a standard router bit on slow speed. Just rubbed some candle wax along the edge to stop any galling.
