Cliff, the thread you were asking about was called something like $199 thicknesser. It was from last year, when we all bought the GMC.

Sorry to have taken so long but finally got hold of 4 shortish lengths of 7 year old [very dry] shot edge hardwood flooring 90mm wide.

Divided up the infeed table with marking pen so that the timber went through overlapping the previous board - marked feed direction and position number.

Boards 1 and 3 had a slight ridge - far less than the soft pine - would easily plane or sand out - no snipe. Pulled the blades out again and reversed them [again] - sent through other side - same direction and order - no ridges I can see or feel - I'm still confused but at least I have an acceptable result. I only took off 0.5mm at each pass.

Thoughts, it must be the blades - even though I can't see or feel nicks - as they are disposables I can only assume that the blades are not "true" and that the problem shows up worse on softwood than hardwood. Will end up getting a new set of blades [at $69 - I'm not really amused] and then perhaps having a play with trying to lap the old ones to see if I can get some sort of improvement.

Any other thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Regards,
    Bob
