went all over town looking for a gmc but they were all gone BUT....... found an ozito( bunnings marion) that was 100 dollars more and 3 year replacement warranty and its got the anti kick back and the suction attachment the same as the ryobi looked up the spec on the internet www.ozito.com.au/productinfo.aspx?prodid=ptg-971 they even quote a ryobi part number for replacement blades.
update today they got the new shipment of gmc in and they are 365 but still no anti kick back or vacuum attachment

tonysa - asks "Masoth - did you end up getting one too ?"
One will be put aside, with my name on it to buy/or not in early June - local Bunnings staff say they will ring.

If you prefer to buy the GMC @ $199, try forwarding a copy of my post (#53) of two days ago, to Bunnings, Marion.

Keep the lower plate slippery - I found after a while the thicknesser needed a hand getting work through - thought it was wearing out or something. Lubricated the bed, and hey presto, it's back to working great!
One of these days I must replace the cheap blades with something decent- but it seems to still be doing a good job, so can't justify the time and effort.
Enjoy.
Now all I need is a jointer. (All I need - did I really say that?????)"Clear, Ease Springs"

does anyone have any idea why the roller on the infeed and outfeed tables on this beast are approx 1.5mm above what seems to be a pretty uniform flat surface as far as pressed metal is concerned? should i adjust them or is itdone like that for a reason?

My neighbor over the back fence had a win the other day.......
He had broken his 6 month old GMC Thicknesser somehow and took it back to local bunnies for replacement on warranty....
No problem says they...here is your new, replacement unit........AND.......
here is a handful of cash too  which is the difference between his (full retail) price and the $199 special price.
You think he was a happy chappy?
Unfortunately I am already the owner of a Ryobi one which I reckon is the same thing, just a different colour.

well i ran a piece of pine stud through the thicknesser, that worked so well i ran a piece of silky oak through the thicknesser, then i set up the jointer (yeah yeah i l know you do it the other way around but ive had the jointer for a week and a half now so i had already done some with it) then i jointed some cedar and some jacaranda and im about to go back and thickness them too! this is great!!! how did i ever get along without them??

good stuff doug, you got one at the right price too
re the rollers, it sure beats me why they're higher than the tables.
i ended up doing something similar to stuart but using some melamine board instead of the ali.
might end up taking the rollers off completely
cheers

Doug- Did you work out why the infeed and outfeed tables were above the flat surface?
