Default Advice on cheap thicknesser please

I'm happy to let you put the stuff through my thicknesser, lots of recycled timber has been through my machines, the only proviso is that you run my metal detector over the boards beforehand.

Does mean that you'll need to pull the whole deck up to make it economical and I'm not that far from you.
    Cheers

Think i'm having a change of heart, priced replacing it more accurately this time and it’s not as horrific as I thought

    I have 410m, 115 boards [90mm Merbau] @ 3.6 meter lengths was $2270 from Taits
less my $500 for the thicknesser [or $300 from Masters ]
so $1770 for new deck, sounds appealing, picking there’s cheaper places then Taits as well

tried Budget Timber in Dandy, the mans a dick, have to go there for a price and its $170 delivery, but gotta order by end of week but he is way cheaper…so he says

any other supplier recommendations? Tile Importers cheaper at $1900 delivered but they are random lengths, and TI not renowned for their quality unless you go in and hand select it

The $5.50 odd a metre you've been quoted is about the going rate. When you need over 100 boards at a certain length you need to consider the cheaper places may not have 100 good ones.

Try selling the old ones on ebay to re-coup some of the cost of the new stuff.

If it is just the colour you need restored, a product such as Dekswood The Flood Company Australia » Wood Care Products » dekswood might be the go, combined with a light sand. I agree with other posts that if too much is taken off the thickness then the ability to span between joists may be compromised.

hey all - hello fellow lignumarians, this is my very first posting, be gentle! Since the thread was about thicknessers, i will chip in (geddit!) my two bob worth. I bought the Ryobi thicknesser from Bunnings, following on from Dean Bielowski's tool review.. It cleaned up a couple of hundred metres of jarrah cladding, and was well and truly up to the job. One thing i did to assist in preserving the edge of the blade, was to clean off the ##### a bit using a scraper, then ran the boards through the machine. Did the job and then some...

Hi guys, I tried the Cabots deck clean and it did little damage to my grey
I was told by a decking veteran that sanding was the only real way to remove the aged gray

good to know the Ryobi thicknesser is up to the task
about to go on a break so maybe my available bank balance on my return will sway me one way or the other!

    appreciate all your input
