Default Advice re planer/thicknesser combo purchase

Hi all of my forummers - older and younger - maestros and novices.

I am desperate for advice on which planer - thicknesser combo to buy.

My workshop is not big enough for separates - unless I could convince my missus to park her car outside (i am worried she may tell me to "park" myself outside instead if I ever dare to say that to her )

I have been looking and drooling over the Felder A3 - 31 and Jet 610HH, but out of my budget.

My budget is set between $2000 - $3000.

And it will be for weekend woodworkers only.

And I also don't want something that is more affordable but the quality suffers (i am aware you can't ask for the quality of Felder - Jet - Powermatic in the cheaper models but at least better than what is offerred by those "portable" ones.)

I am wondering about those offerred Sheppach, Hafco, Carbatec and the like.

    Please help this confused middle-ager.

    Thank heaps in advance,

    Hien.

A little late, but it may happen again - Gregory Machinery in Brissie had the Jet 310HH going for $3060 (15% off) until last weekend. Don't know how often they have a 15% off sale.

Oh, man...could have got that. Anyway, I am going to email them and plead my case and see. Many thanks.

For enquiring minds, how did you go? Thoughts on what you got would be good.
