thanks for this info elver - so you didn't have to lift the bed on to the base, it came fully assembled, fence and all? Must have been pretty top heavy, I imagine?

What mods would you suggest to improve the dust extraction? the Dewalt DW735 jointer I have has an inbuilt fan on the outfeed side for dust extraction. I accidentally disconnected the hose one day and it was like being hit by a sandblaster - it really stung. Pity the bigger machines cannot do something like that , or there is no aftermarket fan you can fit
    regards,

Not fully assembled. The top was in one piece and had to be lifted onto the base. The fence and motor were then fitted to the base. Still a solid two man lift to get the top onto the base though.

The dust chute is just that. A long wide box with 4" connector far from the blades. I think I'll extend the 4 " hose up to the back of the blades to see if I can generate some suck where it's needed.

Mine was all in one box and nearly all assembled, I think all I had to do was bolt the fence bracket onto the machine then set the fence onto that.
The original dust extraction chute is not much chop, it's crap really!! this is what I did with my machine

These pics (plus more) are also in another thread in the dust extraction forum.
The inlet to the curve is 150x300 then down to the 150 pipe, this made a big difference, the rubber flap just below cutter now lifts up as a result of the airflow thru the machine.
As well as the external chute I also added panels to the inside to help direct dust into the chute.
Down the track there is a DE pipe relocation and there's a good chance the jointer chute will be remade to a different design, reason being to try to limit the space the existing pipework takes up.....hopefully for the last time
