Belt length for jointer
G'day All,
I am working on an old jointer that is similar to a Hare & Forbes PT-161
I have had to replace the old A36 belt, and went for a Power Twist V-belt.
When I bought the machine, the motor was sitting on the bottom of the adjustment. It is now sitting about 50mm above that with the Power Twist.
Is this going to make any difference.?
I can put another link or 2 into the belt if necessary.
What do you think?
Regards
Stuart J.

As long as the belt is tensioned and the motor is secure it will be fine.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Thanks
Thanks NCArcher, I thought that was the case.
I have left the motor "loose" and the weight seems to have taken all the slack from the links.
