    Default It's a Bird, It's a Plane.........

    It's a Jet!!

Finally it is time to upgrade.

The little H&F has done a hell of a job. Much more than it was designed to do....Myrtle, jarrah and rough ironbark boards.

It is still going strong but it would be better for both of us with a heavier duty machine for the wider harder timbers.

After much consideration, comments and advice from here and experience with my brother's grey thicknesser I have decided on the Jet.

    Jet - JWP - 15CS.
3 Hp, two speed, heavy, motor underneath inside a full cabinet and built in wheels.

Major Woodworking Equipment gave me a good deal.
A good price for a Jet but still a few hundred dollars more than the others.
After reading about the problems others have had with cheaper brands and my own experience with one of them, I wasn't comfortable going that way.
    Maybe the white colour helps?

Delivery to Newcastle and getting 200plus Kgs up the steep driveway was a bit of a worry.

    MWE are delivering for FREE.
They have a great truck with a hydraulic back door and a motorised pallet jack.
When they delivered the tablesaw in May, they reversed up the driveway and wheeled it right into the middle of the garage.

    Way too easy.

    Delivery this Wednesday.

    Thumbs up

    G'day Scally,

Looks like my C/Tech CTJ-381, which I prefer as it has solid infeed and outfeed tables. But, either way you're gonna love having a solid bit of machinery like that that chews the hard stuff and spits it out smooth as a babies bottom.
I make things, I just take a long time.

Yes Waldo, I would prefer the solid infeed and outfeed tables but they don't come for the Jet.

Thanks Wongo. I noticed yours behind one of the Rocking horse pics.
They are a very accommodating bunch at MWE. When Regan delivers mine tomorrow I will tell him what a good rep you are. He might increase your spotters fee!

Buying serious machines for your hobby is a big deal Tonto. I thought you might want to share the excitement!!!

Tomorrow I will make noise and dust.
I hope my neighbours share your point of view.

Ours is the same as Waldo's.....our neighbour hates it too. Not because of the noise (he's half a kilometre away) but because it dims the lights and other electricals when it starts up....lousy rural power lines
Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.

My neighbour has been using a bricksaw for the last few weeks.
He is cutting pavers for his pool surrounds.
I think they are worse than thicknessers.

My little H&F is a real screamer.
The Jet might be as loud but it shouldn't be that high pitched scream.

Most of my neighbours make a bit of noise so I haven't had any complaints yet.
Well, there was one about my choice of music and it was a bit loud so I could hear it over the power tools.
A couple of the retired neighbours like checking what I am doing. They often stop and say hello when they hear noise and see clouds of dust coming from my garage.
    A nice change from Sydney.

Power has been a bit of a problem. Too much on one circuit. Something, supposedly on another circuit, kept blowing fuses.
I think there must have been a DIY electrician in the house before me.
The lecos seemed to have solved it.

    I'll find out tomorrow.

    Default Delivery

MWE truck pulled in about 4.00pm.

    Nice truck.

15 minutes and it is in the garage - just too easy.

    Regan says Hello Scott.

Now how do you get these crates open??

    Talking Assembly - yeah sure

As you can see it didn't take long.

Even with a couple of minor interruptions it was up an running in 2 hours.

I thought something was wrong...........it was too quiet.

    Would hardy wake the neighbours.

Now, what can I put though it next.

    Cheers
