What would you buy??
Greetings,
I am new to this site and spent many hours last night going over some of the threads and found it to be a veritable gold mine of information.
My situation is I have a quantity of rough sawn ( chainsaw milled ) timber, mainly Jarrah & she oak and think it's time to do something about using it so I am looking for either,
1, Combination thicknesser/planer saw eg. Robland or similar.
2, Seperate sawbench/panel saw with combination thicknesser/planer.
3, Separate saw, thicknesser & planer.
I have floated a budget of $6k by the wife and to my surprise she didn't object much which means I could push it out further, probably up to $8k but I reaaly don't want to test the water or she may pull the plug on the whole project so the closer to $6 the better.
So which of the three options would you take and what machines would fit into the budget and should I put more money into the saw bench, less on the thickener/ planer or vice versa?
Please name your choice of machines and prices if possible.
I am an Upholsterer ( part time nowadays ) and have been using a Triton for the last 10 years for ripping timber for lounges and cabinets I have made but it's time to move forward.
Have been looking around a little bit, like the look of the Jet stuff.
All feedback appreciated.
Alex.
