I need a buzzer!
Hey I have accumulated alot of rough sawn boards alot of exotic timbers that have cost me a bit, the problem is i thought by now i'd have a jointer but i cant afford one.
I really want to start working some of this timber to create some small homewares, boxes ect to get the basic skills up but there isnt much I can do with rough sawn timber
Is there any company out there that pethaps I could hire a jointer from? (I would need minimum 8") or is there any place I could pay to dress my timber for me?
thanks in advance, stefan

Which bit of Melbourne are you in? I am a member of the Knox Community Woodworkers. They got lots of tools and lathes to use. and for a relatively small fee you can too. Nice bunch Of blokes (and a few women.). and they do a lot for the community too.

Get Woodworking, on Kororoit Creek Road in Williamstown is a cool little store where you can get machining done. I regularly go there because I don't have a jointer either! He's open weekdays and saturday (til about 2:00).
Hope that helps

I've only ever had to get a few boards (at most) done at a time, for which he usually charges me $10-20. He's pretty casual about it. I think there may be an option of paying per hour but I've never investigated it - he's always done what I need for me...
