Default carbatec planer moulder any good?

I went into C-T to have a look at a planer-thicknesser combo (I wanted to discuss the merits of a single machine vs separate ones) and was shown a thicknesser-moulder combo.

The salesman made a case for separate machines (a 6" spiral head induction motor jointer) and we discussed a simple thicknesser and the CT 236 which can do mouldings as well.

I havent yet had a need to do mouldings but could forecast wishing that I could.

I have seen that 5 years ago these CT236 machines were discussed on the forum but noone has given an opinion about whether it has any drawbacks as a thicknesser (apart from the $), nor whether it is worthwhile as a moulder

Someone must have given them a good go by now!

I believe the Triton one is pretty well the same as this, Stuart from Stu's Shed has (had?) one of those, I believe he has done some posts in his blog on it.

The Triton Thicknesser/Moulder is a 15 inch unit. Carba-tec may have sold these units house branded in the past, but deleted the item. This is based on previous suggestions that they might be able to find some parts for the units. The same unit is also supplied in the US by Grizzly.

Triton also had a a 13 inch thicknesser without moulding capability.

The CT-236 from carba tec is a 13 inch Thicknesser/Moulder, and I suspect that it is not related to either Triton unit, but the Moulding blades appear to be interchangable.

I have a clearance sale 15inch Triton but it has not done enough work to date to comment on reliability etc, and they are currently unavailable anyway.
