    Default Carbetec Power Feeders

    Hi,
I just purchased a new Hammer B3 Panel saw with built in spindle moulder.
I'm planning to purchase a power feeder for safety reasons and was wondering if anyone has experience with the carbetec power feeders.
I was planning to look at the Felder feeders but they are too big for my needs.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Jeff.

Pretty exciting, what size B3 did you get?

From what I can see, the small carbatec junior and the Hammer H32 are both 1/4hp, three wheel feeders, not sure what you meant by too big?

The Junior is a light weight, easy to set up and remove unit but can be lacking when it comes to needing a bit of grunt. If you are running small section feed stock it will do the job. Once you go to larger section and bigger cutters the feed will bog down and require your input to get the timber through. This will take a heavy toll on the motor. The 1/2 horse unit will perform much better and is still not too big for your machine.

    Thanks for the response Austin.
I'm getting the B3 Winner which I optioned up to include the outrigger and dado setup plus the multi function spindle. I though thought the extra cost was offset by future disappointment by not getting them now versus not being able too retro fit. All in all I'm happy with the choices despite the hefty bill.
As for the feeder I was looking at what was in the show room and at 80 kg it was too big for my needs as well as difficult to move around. I think I'm settled on the S308 felder which comes in at 41Kg but with a 3/4HP motor. The small carbetec appears to be too small as per your comments with very little price difference.
    Cheers.

thanks for the response rustynail. I think I covered everything with comments to Austin, apart from the delivery of the b3 which doesn't arrive in country from Austria until Dec. Still some time to put the pennies away to pay for it.

    Cheers,
    Jeff

Awesome, that should be plenty of power. December...that’s quite a wait, that 5 months is going to go slowly!

Yes, quiet a wait. It will give me some time to prepare the space I need and to move the existing table saw along to a friend.
Nice to see I'm talking to a fellow novocastrian....

Oh so you are! I’m near warners bay and work in my garage so I don’t have the space you do for a nice shed and a panel saw out at Brandy Hill...though probably slightly faster internet

I did the garage thing when I lived in Melbourne. True, I'm lucky enough to have a nice big shed to fit the toys - I'll post some photo's when I take delivery of the B3. In the meantime internet here is not bad since we had the NBN connected - even though its the fixed wireless system.
