Dewalt DW735 thicknesser
Hi all
just wondering whether anyone else has had the same problem
after recently snapping the drive belt and subsequently installing a new one
i have been unable to stop the belt from running of and hitting the roller chain
i have not found any adjustment possible as both the motor and the shaft are fixed
any hints would be greatly apricated
regards Egress

John
PS. Perhaps that belt is damaged so it may be best to start again with a new one.

Only thing I can suggest is to check the pulley is completely home on the shaft ensuring the washer is back under the securing nut. Cheers

I don't know this machine, but the following generic ideas are always true (I think)...
A belt will only jump a grove if there is misalignment. There are only two possible kinds of misalignment. Either the two spindles are not parallel, or the two pulleys are offset, not in plane. The first case is very unlikely, so go looking for anything that might shift a pulley out of plane, along the spindle axis... loose nut, disintegrated spacer washer, damaged or displaced bearings...?

Did you dismantle anything to fit the new belt? Here is a video of fitting a Shelix head to one of these thicknessers so he had to take the pulley off the head and there was a spacer behind it. Is it possible you took the pulley off and either left the spacer off or put it on the wrong side of the pulley?
The removal of the belt starts at the 6 min mark.
I just watched the video that orraloon linked to and it is pretty much the same except he didn't mention anything about the spacer or remove it.Dallas

It would be a good idea to stick around and help solve the problem.
Can I ask, what is the distance between the drive belt and the chain?
Separately, from curiosity about the design of this machine, does anyone know why there are drive chains on both sides of the feed rollers. Or did I hallucinate, and that is fiction...?

One chain is the drive chain driving one roller and the other links the 2 drive rollers together.

Snapping the drive belt?
got me buggered how that even happens?
No dust collector?
Taking too much off at once?
Not put together properly at the factory?
