Default What is going on with distributors and support for Jet in Aus?

I think Trend Timbers were the distributor for Jet tools, then Carbatec took it, but Trend still have Jet listed but don’t have spare parts?

Having been upset as usual dealing with carbatec, in this case waiting a veeeery long time for a feed belt for my 22-44 drum sander and then having the “I’ll call you right back” never does style support trying to get a replacement bolt for it after qouting exact part number and specs, I was looking online and noticed Carbatec don’t have my sander or my 260mm jet jointer/planer or most of the table saws anymore. Nor most of the Powermatic stuff they had for a while?

is Jet slowing moving out of Australia, smashed by exchange rate etc or is Carbatec just focussing on Sawstop and store brand equipment again these days?

The 22-44 was actually a pretty great deal in sanding width for the price ~4 years ago for those not in the market for a monster widebelt and the 260mm jointer planer still meets my needs for all but the longer work pieces and at a bargain when I got it in NZ 6+ years ago.

This isn’t important, I got the stupid bosworth thread bolt online from a car restoration supplier, but just wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing.

Jet has had more distributors than I have had hot dinners and none seem to last long or give anywhere near the customer service the brand deserves.

I think the current importers are slowly doing away with Jet to concentrate on their own brand, it has slowly harder and harder to get machines and parts.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions, I really like The Sandpaper Man, hopefully they can do replacement 100grit feedbelts the next time I need one, and I’m sure planer knives aren’t too hard to get.
