Replacing oil in 15" thicknesser gearbox.
Hi all,
I need to refill the oil well in this thicknesser's gearbox as it has slowly leaked over the years.
Problem is that i haven no idea how to do that.
Does anyone have experience in this type of thicknesser? It seems like a pretty common type - there seem to be a few brands around that employ this design.
Thanks,
Steven.

I replenished /replaced the oil in mine when I upgraded it to a Shelix head. I remember taking note on how to do it without dismantling the machine, as I recall it was not difficult but I can't remember the details.
If you don't get enough info from Dallas's link give me a shout.I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

From what I can see from the manual you should just need to remove the bolt in the centre of the cover over the chains and sprockets and remove it. Once that is off the drain plug is at the bottom the the next housing so remove it and the filler plug to drain your oil. To refill, refit the drain plug and you would probably need a bottle or something similar with a hose on the outlet or a syringe type gearbox filler (see below) and force the oil in the refill hole until it is up to the bottom of the hole. Looks like you need a gear oil by the manual.

Thanks everyone for your help. I ended up just using a sauce bottle I picked up for $1 to fill the gearbox, worked a treat. I basically followed the instructions in the Grizzly manual - very handy. Machine is running super smooth now
