    Hey guys,

Just an update - I've been sidetracked, but I needed my garage back so I put in some time this arvo, and tried a bunch of things to take the table off, and none of them have worked, but ^this did! So now, at least I have at least on paper a working jointer again.

Now that I know I can get the table on, I plan to do a couple more things to try to take it off again. When it disengages, it stays there like something's holding it in place. Not sure if that thing is friction from grime buildup, but I've cleaned it inside and out and hit it with penetrating oil so on the gibs it's smooth as butter. I've looked inside and out and cannot find any mechanical parts that could be holding it in place. I will slide it off the gibs and give the top end of the gib a whack with a wooden stake.

    Cheers,

I’ve been thinking about this machine, have you measured the width between the dovetails at the top and the bottom? To see if they are parallel? I remember one machine I worked on once they were not parallel, and the gib was tapered to suit, the gib would only come out one way( from the top I think) and then the table would come off. I can’t remember the brand of machine though. Just a thought.

yea, they are. Thanks for the idea, though - if I can't get it out at the bottom I'll try at the top. I think that will require removing the cutterhead

I'm becoming increasingly optimistic that I can remove the tables. After hitting it with penetrating oil, it's able to move a little bit on the gibs.
