    Question GMC Planer Thicknesser Blades

I've recently acquired a second hand GMC TP2000 318mm planer/thicknesser. Does anyone know where I can get blades for it? Will Ryobi blades fit this machine? I'm also missing the blade replacement guide but I guess it's possible to do without this with a bit of mucking about. KJP

    Hello.

I have the Ryobi thicknesser. Assuming we are talking about the same model (I don't think Ryobi or GMC made more than one model), Ryobi blades should fit your GMC thicknesser.

I'm confident in this as when Bunnings was getting rid of the GMC brand they were clearing out packets of two GMC blades for $8 each - they fit my Ryobi model. I bought all that two stores had - although they don't seem to last that long so I'm glad I got a heap of them.

You could also go to Bunnings and 'special order' the blade setting jig from Ryobi. I've attached the two PDF spare parts sheets you will need to tell Bunnings the part number. There are probably a number of home-made jigs or magnets you can use, but maybe the Ryobi jig is cheap enough to just get it.

    Hope that helps!

EDIT: I guess its part 146 you are after? Part number 089170100801

I have a Ryobi as well.
Our Men's Shed has a Rockwell.
One day at the shed we had a small accident and to keep working, I came and got a part from my Ryobi.
    Perfect fit.
A couple of chaps commented that they thought, Ryobi, GMC and Rockwell, were all the same machine with a bit of badge engineering.
Try the Ryobi blades, not too expensive, I always keep a spare pair of new blades on hand as I find they are not that good quality steel and wear quickly working on hard wood.

    Masters sell "999" brand.

It is the same as GMC.

    "999" carries all the spare.

I'd be a bit interested in getting some replacement metal bars that go over the blades on a GMC. Mine are a wee bit bent and shavings are constantly jammed under there so the cuts come out a bit scooped because they blades aren't backed up evenly.

At least I know where to try for some new blades now
