    Default Grizzly thicknesser upgrade

    Hey y'all

Those with a 15" Carbatec/Timbecon/Leda/Jet etc thicknesser (and a small fortune in additional funds) migh be interested in this....

A new carbide spiral cutter to replace the three blades.

Only problem is that it is US$595 http://www.grizzly.com/products/H7768

    Damn...........
Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.

I like the idea... get a chip in a cutter and you can replace just the affected section. As a bonus, the cutters also look like they'd fit some of my turning tools!

The real question is: how well does it work? Enough to justify US$600?

There was a review in AWR (I think) a little while ago. It actually had a really good review with great results, The big disadvantage being the price obviously.
I can look into the issue if your interested?

Ouch! according to the review in AWR #54, they are available from the Woodworking Warehouse.
    The prices range from $725 (150mm Jointer), $825 (208mm Jointer), $1550 (375mm Thicknesser) to $2250 (500mm Thicknesser).
You could buy a new machine for each of these prices, or a whole lot of hand planes!
