    Default HAFCO planer thicknesser

I've just purchased a used Hafco planer model ct-318, seems quite a good machine.
date stamped Feb 1997, well made and robust in construction, however the blades are blunt.
Can anyone tell me is it cheaper to sharpen or replace the blades? Are new blades available? If so from where in Adelaide? I also have not got the knife guide or blade height setting gauge. Are spare parts for Hafco available??

What are you two doing in this section, haven't you got some logs to move or something?

Yep sharpening is cheaper and if you find you do have to replace them at some stage do some research and buy from your sharpening guy, you will find blades ain't blades when it comes to buying off the shelf from some woodwork stores.

As for setting blades, do a search for using magnets to set blades, there are even a few videos on it somewhere, then buy some magnets and do it that way, much easier than using any factory jig to set planer/jointer blades, and the big magnets are handy for other things too - like pinching you fingers between!!!

Well, yeah, now come to think of it, what am I doing in here? I hardly ever go out of the milling section and never go out of the timber section (other than the one time when I tried selling my 6-18)

Admins must have moved it Mike??? otherwise I never would have seen it...
