    Default Hafco PT6 Jointer - 2nd hand - is this a good deal?

    Hi team

    I've found one of the above within an hours drive for $300.00. Has a bit of wear and tear but from the description and speaking to the seller seems in good nick.

    Looks like it retails new at $693.00.

    I'm thinking it's a decent buy at $300.00? I'm very much a novice so spending a fortune on tools is not worth it for me at the moment.

    Opinions please?!

    Assuming you mean Hafco. I had one of the older ones - the all green ones. I bought it and sold it for about $300. They are good old machines and it gave me zero trouble. Without seeing a picture it’s difficult to comment on whether 40% of new price is good value but assuming everything still works then I think it is.

    If you get access to a lot of locally cut or rough sawn timber then a jointer is a good machine to have. If you are like me and buy timber by carefully picking through the racks of DAR then it wasn’t so useful and I figured I could do the same job with a number 7 hand plane and reclaim the space it took up.
