The power rating on the unit is 1800W. This indicates a running current of 7.5A (I=P/V) at 240V. Please keep in mind that the startup current of an electric motor can be significantly higher than the running current. Most fuse boxes will have a 16A or similar circuit breaker which should cater for the momentary higher current if nothing else is operating on the same circuit.

In summary it comes with a standard 10A plug and works fine as was stated previously.

OK thanks for that, just a matter of figuring how to get it, and where to have it delivered. Couriers don't come to my place, and depending on the company, some of them don't even call you to let you know which closest city they've left it lying around in.

Still happy with my unit. Will probably need some more expensive blades sooner rather than later but it does the job pretty well. The same branded stand helps track through and makes it a bit easier to use.
Had a look at the Hare & Forbes version today and could not tell the difference apart from a few coloured panels.

I finally made enough room in the garage for me to assemble my thicknesser/stand combination last night. It was simple until it came to attaching the dust collector. One of the top screws just wouldn't go back in. Ended up turning the holes in the plastic into slots.

Mine came with everything except a manual. As commented by others, I seem to have a few spare screws which don't go anywhere. With the stand you don't need the rubber feet. Tried it with a slab of Callitris (cypress), very impressed.

Could one of you please scan and send the pages in the manual relevant to setting the electronic gauge. I can't figure that out myself.

Can't scan at the moment but here's what it says.
"Using the Digital Display
Press the on/off button and the readout will appear in the display. Change from metric to inch by pressing button. By turning the adjustment handle, the readout changes and will give the height on the wood as it passes through he thicknesser. Alternatively you can press the ABS button, this will change the readout to zero. This can be used once you have passed the workpiece through the thicknesser, you then measure the size of the wood. If you now need to take 3mm of the workpiece you turn the height adjustment wheel until the readout is -3mm. Feed the workpiece back through and it will now be at the correct size.

SETTING THE DIGITAL DISPLAY
The TP13M thicknesser is fitted with a digital display to give an accurate height reading. Once you have passed your workpiece through the thicknesser, you should measure the height and check that the digital readout is set correctly.
If it is not, then you can recalibrate.

Press and hold the zero button then press P+ button. The word SET will appear on the displsy and start flashing. To adjust the readout up or down, press and hold the P+ or P- button. It will take a few seconds for the readout to change. If you hold the button for the readout to change. If you hold the button for several seconds, the readout is set correctly, press the zero button and the SET will disappear.

Typical Chinese English but I hope it Helps

Deals direct have finally supplied the missing dust cowling from my thicknesser. They had previously sent a replacment tool bag by mistake. They don't seem to want it back.

If anyone is short a tool bag email me off the link at left and I'll send it to you.

They tried surprisingly hard to sort out my machine. Took a while and a few errors but marks for effort.

So far so good with my Talon thicknesser ... have run about 7 jarrah boards through it- taking about 5mm off each. Lots of noise and loads of dust but does give a good finish.

However, am finding it a waste of time to try take off more than about 0.3-05 mm per pass. Any thicker and the boards tends to jam. Also, the smoother the boards get the more likely they are to jam. I guess this is because the rollers have trouble gripping very smooth boards.

Quick question I hope other Talon users can hopefully assist with- When do I use the anti snipe column lock ie when should I tighten it and when should I loosen it ? Am I supposed to loosen it before adjusting the thicknessing setting ? The winder wheel to adjust the thicknessing setting moves freely even when the column lock is tightened- so I am bit confused re: when to tighten and loosen the column lock.
