    Default Hitachi P13F thicknesser

    Hi,
A Newbie here. The local Mitre10 has a hell deal on there last Hitachi P13F, it seems a reasonable machine but despite trawling the Interweb I can not find a single review! Seems a bit strange considering how long they have been around and the fact that they are still listed in the latest Hitachi catologe.
Anyone have any info, preferably someone who has used one.
    Thanks.

    Hi Steve & Wongo,
Thanks for the replies. The deal is under half retail plus free delivery plus cost on spare blades in stock.
I am a metal man by trade, like tools and am just feeling my way with this wood stuff, having success,( to me), so far. Very enjoyable and I am aiming at building a Lawton 13' boat out of John Gardeners 'Classic Small Craft'.
I've even learnt how to use a hand plane! Just figure that machines were invented for people that just want to get a job done.
Might just go for it, at least it doesn't have a lot of negative reviews like DeWalt.

Default Thanks for taking the time,

Thanks for the replys, as stated DeWalt was a bit cheaper at full retail but had about a 50/50 split between like/dislike.
Not being able to find any negative reveiws I took a plung and bought it.
Glad I did, because as I and the shop guy where loading it onto a cart someone else came in to purchase it, plus I got him to drop the price by another $25 because he coulden't find the tool kit,(found when I got home wrapped in plastic, taped up inside machine).
The day got better the next day when as I was putting the stand together an old mate, a chippy by trade, who I haden't seen for 6+ months dropped by.
    His verdict was "good score".
Beutiful finish, no detectible sniping, and resharpanable blades.
I'm going to make new blade height setting jigs as the factory ones are not to the level of accuracy that I am comformatable with. Thats my only gripe, oh I might knock up a side suction sheild for the dross.
Next purchase a metal detecter as I will mostly be re finishing O.P.R. (Other Peoples Rubbish).
    Cheers, Barry.
