Hold down clamp on mitre saw fence
Hello, I am making a fence along the lines of the Gifkin fence for a sliding compound mitre saw as shown here , with the fence screwed to the base.
I would like to add a hold down clamp to this fence which will hold the workpiece in position while cutting.
It would be neat if I could fit something like this in the fence - this is a Kapex KS120 hold down clamp, which I have, but they would require a clever bit of work at the bottom of the vertical shaft to hold it in position on a timber fence
Can anyone please suggest a way of making a suitable clamp?regards,
Dengy

Can the unit in you photo be diassembeld if so, remove the mounting shaft cut it to length and braze or weld a flat plate to the end of the shaft, with hole on each side then screw to the top of the fence (hope that made sense)

Thanks for this suggestion, China. The only problems with that are the item cost $108 from Festool, and the heat from the welding would probably melt the plastic parts on the head

thanks for this link, China, I have just ordered one of the hold down clamps, rather than the toggle clamp, to give it a go.
Have to be careful not to put too much pressure on the fence and push it out of alignment. It is only screwed to the baseregards,

G'day Jill, probably too late but you could add it to your ideas list for later if you wish.
I use these with the sled I made for the table saw but they are also easily used on a bench etc.
