JET or Carbatec?
The boss has decided that we need a new desk in the study and that it is to be made of recycled timber. Naturally I'll "need" a thicknesser to get the job done quickly and accurately ;-) The budget is limited however, so I've narrowed my decision down to the JET JWP-12 and Carbatec economy 12 1/2 inch units. My question is whether or not there is any advantage to the JET for its $150 premium or whether the Carbatec will serve me fine. I will be thicknessing a variety of timbers (more hard than soft) to lengths of 2.5m. Is the Hafco woodmaster a worthy alternative?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Steve

Steve, I have an old Jet 13", version. The only thing that it complained about was 12" wide Brushbox I ran thru it. The fix, don't be so greedy and take a smaller cut.
I've also ran thru 6" Tallowwood posts, it's reply was "More!"
I've used a 15" Carbatec as well, no probs with standard timbers.Pat
