Jet jointer stops spinning, motor still runs
I bought a second-hand jet jointer a few months and it has worked fine until today. When I pass wood over the cutters, after about 1' with soft wood (or 6" with hard) the cutter stops spinning, but the motor still runs.
I plan on taking it apart to see if there's anything obvious, but thought I'd ask first for advice first in case it's a common problem. I did check the belt first in case it had slipped, but that's not the case.
Any ideas?

Just a guess but I’d say a grub screw has come lose and the square key has worked it way out of one of the pulleys. Or there isn’t enough tension on the belt.

Yeah... I had a cheap clone that, for some reason, they'd tapped the shaft for the lock-nut in such a way that every time I turned the machine on it'd loosen the lock nut slightly.
Eventually, the sprocket moved enough that the key fell out and the sprocket would spin on the shaft under load.
An easy enough fix, although time consuming, but four or five startups later and it'd need "fixing" again. And so on ad nauseum. I never did manage to get that damned lock-nut locking properly... tried various Loctites, a wire twist on the the final threads, everything I could short of welding.
One very wet winter's day the shed flooded and it rusted into unusability practically overnight. Let's just say that there was a quick sale and no tears shed at it's departure.
