Thread: Jet310hh infeed pressure leaves marks

Most machines with serrated infeed rollers will leave slight marks, but they should be <0.5mm deep. Any more than that, and roller pressure is too high.

Since the digital thickness doodad on the JPT-310 is spot on and repeatable (once you've set it up), there is no reason why you should be taking less than 1mm off on the final pass. Work out how much you want to take off a board, hog most off at maybe 2mm per cut, and arrange it so the last cut to desired thickness is 1mm or more.

Mmmaybe, but I'll often do a poofteenth pass at the end to minimise tearout if it's happening. I find that the A3 31 can also leave those marks in such a pass so I run that face back over the jointer to work around it.

Ok....understand it now. The feed roller impression was deeper than my cut. This was due to trying to clean up my original table rails which were all cut at different visits to the table.( trying out slightly different sizes of tenons). Thanks for your explanation. The idea of using the jointer again could be a good one too.

The funny thing is that when I was giving Felder a little tearout about the ridiculous 500mm power lead that was supplied they offered to take it back (how preposterous). I'd say that was because they knew they could sell it the next day for an additional $900, based upon what Derek paid.

BTW, I've just made a device that may be transferable to the JET 310 for solving the laborious winding up and down. See here.

Didn't realise the Hammer machine had the digital clicky doodad in the middle of the height winder. I'd already made the TTIT mod to my JPT-310 by putting a bolt in the middle of the winder wheel - think I saw it first on a US site somewhere. An old battery drill provides motive power, or I revert to manual mode if said drill has disappeared under the dross covering my shed floor.....

You get to know fairly quickly just how far you have to wind down for the dust hood to clear the lower table as it swings over.

mumbo - glad to hear you've got it sorted. Make sure you take the time to set the digital height gauge exactly to the actual thickness produced; 'tis a wonderful thing. As delivered, mine was a country mile out.

Just a thought - the accessories for woodworking machines are becoming like all the overpriced crap they try to sell you when you buy a new car. You know, the fabric protection, rust protection, etc. In some cases the dealer makes more from these items than they do on the car itself.

Supplying a stump instead of a power lead is a bit rude IMHO. Had the same with my JET machine......except its 3 phase, so the cable and connector cost a small fortune.

On the subject of short power leads,I have made all the leads on my machines,thicky,TS,router table,belt sander, about 250mm long,the reason is that I never need to wind the long cords up.
I then use a extenstion lead to what ever machine I am using.(they are all single phase)
