    Default Old Jointer Identification

    Hi all!

I picked up an old jointer and haven't been able to find any info on it.

The only thing written on it is 'The Climax'.

Does anyone know anything about it?

    Cheers

The T-slot in the infeed table is interesting, wonder what it would be used for...

Is there anything on the motor? That might at least give a clue as to where it's from (assuming the motor is original)

The "Climax" on the pedestal base should give a clue. Motor and switch gear is not original

Does the fence locate in the ‘Tee’ slot.
    Early Wadkin were like that.
Vann is into these vintage Wadkins.
The base is like the early Macson which morphed into Barker.
They had a rack fence adjustment.
Sparrow ? Was another early locally made jointer, there’s some posts about them somewhere.
Is there any evidence of fast and loose pulleys it looks old enough to have been lineshaft driven.
What is the cutter block type?
Assume it’s round all the square ones were changed over prewar.

The fence locates in the T slot, yes.
Cutter block is round and the motor doesn't look original. It's an old Crompton Parkinson.
Not sure if it was lineshaft driven but it does look like the motor mounts aren't original

Clear out what do you make of the massive protrusion on the left side of it? That’s awfully big for a bearing carriage? Those clover shaped handwheels for the tables are distinctive too.
