Hi, I just posted this over at the small/general tools page but perhaps it’s more appropriate here(?) Reply in this thread Please

G’day,
I’ve just been gifted an old Paulcall 6” jointer (model P2). It’s in good nick, but is missing the motor and both pulleys. Because I love old tools and a challenge, I’m going to bring it back to life.

Can anyone here please help me with an approximate cutter head rpm for this machine?

I can’t find a manual online but I’ve seen lots of photos, including one that showed what looked like the original motor. Its data plate stated 1425 rpm. All the pics I’ve seen show a larger pulley on the motor than the cutter head... about a 1:2 drive ratio so I’m guessing the cutter head should be spinning at about 3000rpm? It’s a 3-bladed cutter head, about 75mm in diameter.

I’m mechanically-minded and reckon I can get the job done.... I just need to know how fast the cutter head should be spinning.

Any advice most welcome.

Thanks,
Scott
