    Default LEDA PT-129S 300mm 3hp spiral cutter

I’m looking at a combination machine, what’s the experience of the Leda PT-129s? Is there something that stands out in this price range,$4000. I do have 3 phase available, but access is average.
    many thanks, David

I’m also interested in a combo machine at that price point. Would love a Hammer A3-31... but can’t afford $7k unfortunately!

Hadn’t considered the Leda yet, otherwise it seemed like the Woodman, Woodfast or Rikon machines were about all there is. I found some comments suggesting the Rikon cutters were only 2 sided... but have nothing else to support that, but that left two. Oh, there’s also the Sherwood machine... but the colour scheme is cringeworthy for no notable spec difference.

They all seem pretty much comparable from what I can see. Pretty much the same design, very similar specs... wouldn’t be surprised if they were all made the same and just badged by different brands.

I did have the Jet in mind but it seems Carbatec have stopped selling Jet and I can’t see anyone else who does in Australia... but that pretty much looks the same as well.

Would be interested to hear any other input.

Thanks Mark, I can’t find the Jet either. I felt all the others were cosmetically different only. I still haven’t ruled out the Hammer but they haven’t got back to me yet.
even the Carbatec looks the same.

Yeah I enquired with Hammer and they took about a week and a half or so to call me. But it was about $7k with the helical head.

I just noticed on Trendtimbers.com.au that they actually state the Rikon has four sided cutters. The only difference I can see between that and the Woodfast (both available at Trend) is the Rikon says it has a 3.3hp motor vs 3hp on the Woodfast, and the Rikon has outfeed rollers for the thicknesser, which would be handy. It’s and extra $300 RRP... hopefully there’s an EOFY or tax time sale shortly!

I’ve been quoted $8837 for the hammer, delivery late 2020. It’s getting up there. Wondering what else I should look at in this price range.
