    Default Motor change over????

If I aquire this unit from USA, would it be possible for me to put a 24o volt motor in it if it fits in ofcourse?
Clearly I know a lot about electricity and related stuff. Not!

MMm and shipping it here will cost me very very little. Yay!

As long as the replacement motor is roughly the same size, power and RPM, I don't see how it would be an issue. The machine won't care what's powering it and the motor won't care what it's powering.

Spindle speed will be 20% slower with a local 50Hz motor assuming a induction motor, so surface finish at a given feed rate might suffer. When you replace the motor, step up about 20% in power and adjust the driving pulley size to correct the spindle speed, then unit should be about the same finish v feed rate. Or alternatively, go for similar sized motor and use a slower feed rate.

Much easier would be to buy 110v - 240v power transformer. Make sure it's one with enough power. I've seen them on eBay for less than $100.00.

You would need to be lucky or very much in the know to get suitable stepdown transformer for $100, you are talking a 2HP motor here, i.e transformer rating would need to be in the region of 1800 to 2000VA to have a moderate amount of reserve.

However, when I located a unit as described on US ebay, it was listed as being 120V 12 A or 240V 6A so that particular one has a dual voltage motor and could be operated here by upgrading the wiring and switch gear to local standards, maybe a $100 proposition. Check if the one you are interested in is dual voltage. You still end up with a slower spindle speed though.
