    Question Planer/Thicknesser

I have been doing woodturning and general woodwork for only a short time since I have retired. Have a wood lathe, Triton work centre (saw, router, biscuit joiner), Compound Mitre saw, bandsaw, belt sander, and a good range of other tools. Up till now, I have been making small items eg coffe tables, but want to go onto larger items. I have been using re-cycled timber which I have been able to dress/finish with the equipment I have.
Is the purchase of a Planer/thicknesser the next logical step, and if so, what do I look for.

This toipic has just been covered at length, go back about 60 days and look at thicknesser.
Given you are in Donvale you may just get lucky with this one in Kilsyth.
    It's a 12 1/2" thicknesser for $660 + $30 for a dust port.
Give him a call to see if he has any left...

Found an ad today in the trading post for a buzzer, went to have a look and found it was a wholesaler going out of business in Kilsyth.
He has a lot of gear left and claims it is cheap, even a 12 1/2" thicknesser for $660.00 (3 left).
    There is a 10" for $350.00 and the 6" buzzer is $400.00.
All sorts of gear there and the number, for anyone interested is
    03 9761 8087.
    Kilsyth, Melbourne outer east.

Also have a look at http://www.woodshopdemos.com/plan-pm.htm

    Exclamation

Alltools 'at a store near you' probably Ringwood, are currently advertising an Electra Beckum for just over $2300, I think it's a planer thicknesser 10".
I wouldn't touch the Electra Beckum bandsaw but I don't know what the quality of the planer is like. It is only a short table 1090 I think.
Dear wife threw out the catalogue which arrived yesterday.
