Do you mean the pulley that is supposed to be on the motor is missing? If so, what is the diameter of the pulley on the cutter head?

Motor will be either around 1450RPM or 2900RPM, cutter head speed would be typically around 4000RPM, so you want to step up either about 2.75:1 for 1450 motor or1.38:1 for 2900 motor.

To calculate motor pulley diameter, multiply the head pulley diameter by the appropriate ratio for your motor speed and that should put you in the general area, then find the closest pulley regarding diameter and shaft bore.

Hi Seanread, I have same jointer i think, it's in pieces but has motor and pulley wheels still. I can have a look and let you know. Maybe you can help me too. The threads in blade retainers are stripped, as are the set screws, so I'm looking to drill them out and retap or even make new plates. do you have photos of how yours are set up please? some of my set screws appear to be drilled at an angle and some are at 90 deg to plate, seems a bit weird. cheers

Hey guys thanks for all your responses, I ended up going with a 6" pulley wheel as it's the biggest there is space for on the motor. With the 2.5" on the cutter and the 1425rpm motor That puts the speed at the cutter at around 3500. I'll see how this goes, if it's not cutting great I'll get a 2" wheel for the cutter. I'd be happy to post some photos of the cutter head but I'm still not sure how to post photos in this forum (I'm using my phone). Any pointers?

Hi Seanread mine has a 1HP 1425RPM motor, 2.25" pulley on cutter and 4.5" on motor. So my cutter will be running at 2850RPM. as I haven't had machine running yet I don't know if this is good or bad.

Thanks for offer re photos, if you work out how to post that would be great. I think you need to select advanced post rather than quickreply, and then you have the ability to attach photos to your reply. If you're near Melb and if easier I'd be happy to drop in and have a look at how your blades are fitted into cutter head?

This is a clip of the specs from the Timbecon site on their 6" Jointers. Might be of assistance to you both.

Thanks Treecycle, mine might be a little slow. I'll see once I've got the cutter head sorted and have it back together, see how it goes

Thanks for the photos, they are really helpful, can definitely see that they are drilled on the angle, much appreciated!
