Default Replacement blades for cheap thicknesser

    Hi all,

i have a cheap and cheerful 'workzone/aldi' thicknesser- which has been great for a load of projects - but the blades have started to leave lines behind which i suspect are caused by being dull.

i have tried to sharpen them without any real success (cutting got smoother, but still had some lines)

where do people buy their replacement blades? i see a bunch of double sided ones etc, but my unit has single sided, with springs from beneath pushing the blade up to the correct height and a blade fitting tool to correct the height etc...

    It's a 319mm blade x18.2x3.2

the double sided ones would not push on the spring would they?

ultimately i am going to look into a carbatec spiral head unit, possibly a combination thickness/jointer or similar - but the budget doesnt run that direction at present....

    any help is much appreciated.

If you are anywhere in the Northern suburbs try Northern Sharpening in Trade Place Nth Coburg. I expect that they will still be open as they provide for butchers.

They would be able to, at least, sharpen your existing set and probably make a new set for you. They may even be able to post a set to you.

I have seen good reviews for Combined Saw & Knife. Although they don’t list that size, they may be able to make them. Some places have long lengths of planer blades they cut to lenght.

i saw a youtube clip about sharpening which featured a ryobi thicknesser which had the same setup - so it may be common?????
