    Default Restoring old Carbatec Jointer

I have an old Carbatec jointer from 1993.

    Model: SJ-150 3
    240v, 1HP, Single phase.

The fence is attached to the bed at the end of the jointer rather than the centre.
Currently the jointer is terrible as the blades are so old and damaged.

I was wondering if people think it's worth updating with a Helix cutter head or not?

Just remove the knives, take them to a saw doctor, ask them to sharpen them, re-install and adjust, clean and wax the tables, and you’ll be fine. Fitting a helix head would be a massive waste of money.

Yeah I wouldn't go helical on that, it'll probably cost several times what the thing's worth. A sharpen should do, or you can just replace them for $50 6" HSS Planer Blade Set of 3 | Carbatec
