Retrofit helical cutter to Jet JPT 310 combo - anyone done it?

Hi Folks,

I am trying to install a new helical cutter block to my Jet 310 combo machine, and have gone as far as I dare for now. I think I know what I have to do but would like some re-assurance before plunging further.

I have unbolted the housing for the cutter block on the front side of the machine in order to disengage the cutter block, guide rollers etc. Then it appears that it will pull apart allowing the cutter block (and all the rollers) to disengage from the housing. Should be fun trying to re-assemble that.

I can't see any other way of getting the cutting block out, without also having to disengage all the rollers and so forth.

I found the grub screw at the other end of the existing cutter block and have disengaged that.

Has anyone done this, and do you think I am on the right track? Any help appreciated, cheers.

Don't think this will help but may, I just took delivery of a Sherwood 12" combo machine with a helical head that I believe is a copy of the jet machine you have.

Happy to take some photos of bits of mine if needed. (As long as I don't have to remove anything that will stuff my alignment up as I just tuned it in)
