Default Retrofitting thicknesser infeed and outfeed tables

Have a Jet 15" Thicknesser which I love however it has those horrid infeed and outfeed rollers instead of cast iron tables. Both myself and my old man have been caught out now with feeding short boards and nearly getting fingers trapped between the end of the board and rollers so I want them gone and replaced with something safer. Getting Jet parts in Australia is a joke from previous experiences so I'm hoping someone might know another way I could retrofit proper tables. It's a great machine otherwise so not really something I can replace especially after upgrading the cutter head.

Maybe an old parts machine that's been put out to pasture or finding new replacement parts for a similar machine. Anyone seen it done or have any thoughts?

"something Safer" is called a push stick, much less expense and bother than trying to retro fit tables tables from another machine

It's on the outfeed side that we've had problems but thanks for the input.

Can you hook a length of melamine coated chipboard with cleats at each end over the infeed, bed and outfeed rollers?
