I have just broken my timing belt too for the same saw - wondering if you have solved the problem?

Hi sami,
I have sourced the belt here in QLD at Caboolture.The cost is mind blowing$91.08,so if you like i can give you a contact number for them.I ordered mine yesterday.I spent a lot of time trying to find a supplier for this belt.

I just did a search for BSC motion technology, and there is one in Orange sami.Get in contact with them,and tell them to ring their Caboolture shop if they don't know what your talking about.

Thank you very much Foo. Yes, $91 is a lot but the saw has been such a good workhorse for the last 20 or so years. I have also been looking on the internet for suppliers and am still trying to find out from a supplier in England. It may be a bit cheaper in the long run but would much prefer to get it locally. Ryobi was not at all helpful and quite annoyed that I even asked for something so old!

Hi Sami,
I don't have any idear about the UK supplies,but you can get the belts from Bando in the US or Canada.The only problem with them is,they require that you buy 16 belts at a minimun.

The belt for my saw turned up to-day!!The dam thing doesn't have gold plating anywhere on it.For the price,I was expecting it to have some,somewhere!

For the money I would have thought they would come out and fit it for you.

Very expensive belt has finally arrived - even had to pay an extra $10 to get it down from Queensland!!! However it is now on my saw and it works well - worth it as I now can use my good old 20 year old saw! Thanks again for you information - we found the dealer here in Orange so did not have to pursue the UK link which I must admit had me a bit worried - who knows if it would have arrived and in fact, the correct belt?

That's ok!Just glad to have been able to track down a supplier in Australia,even if it cost an arm,leg and half a shoulder!!
The main thing is,the saw is going again!Shame that Ryobi Australia couldn't give a rats a.se about being more helpful in obtaining one.The saw itself is very good,and you can't buy one like it that i am aware of.
This belt should see me out i would think.Checked for play in the shafts,and there is none so am happy.

i am replacing the timing gears so that a standard belt costing $6.00 can be used rather than $91.00 as somone has posted because the next time the belt goes ,so does your hard earned cash. i have found the small gear in a black and decker saw. it sells for $6.00 and is readly available. the larger gear will come from the timing gear from an automobile available at your local scrap yard. i will cut the old gears and press fit the new ones on the old gears. as i am a machinist and do my own work the fitting will be strait forward. i will try to post my results when i finish this as it does not have the highest priority at this time

As you can see from the previous threads, I have purchased the very expensive belt and it is installed on the saw and goes well. Thanks for your information - maybe next time, when I am not in a hurry to get it fixed, I will try your solution. Good luck with your plan - hope it all goes well.
