Default Who are these "Sher power tools" people?

I am looking at purchasing a second hand Sher Power Tools 10" combo planer/thicknesser (simply because it's at a really good price).

However I can't find anything about this company or their products/quality. Can any of you wonderful & knowledgeable folk help me out with this?

I did find this (http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/hwtports/0...hp002936.shtml) but it's not much help!

    Cheers,
    Af.

Thanks for that. They don't seem to have a planer/thicknesser on their site. I guess they're not selling it anymore. That'll be a problem for parts too.

I think that Sher and Sherline are different. From memory, SHerline do a whole range of small scale tools for modelling etc. Sher were a (I think) an Aussie manufacturer of lathes, saws, etc (general woodworking machinery).

The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

    Default Sher

Stil bought Sher out and marketed as SkilSher. I think they were bought out by an Italian firm years ago. I own a sher circular saw that must be over 40 years old and still going. The spring on the return guards is weak and slow in retunring and once and awhile the switch need a second squeeese, but sill going strong. As far as I know sher does not exist.

Great. Thanks for the leads folks. Probably not easy to get spare parts given the company is so old and taken over so many time. Think I'll give this purchase a miss.
