Your family & neighbours will thank you for being so considerate. Nice units with very few idiosyncrasies - just the depth of cut limiter .

Just ordered one too, but it has to get taken away by SWMBO until my 60th next February, along with the new fly fishing rod I don't get until Christmas.

I wouldn't be complaining approval from the minister for finance ... and all domestic issues ..... holds the power of veto. Count your blessings for they are many.

Well mine arrived today big shout out to Timbecon awesome service also excellent service from Toll.
Cannot believe just how good the helical segmented head is. Ran a test piece through, no discernable snipe, silky smooth finish x 10

Had mine a week now and made over 100 passes and very pleased with the smoothness of the finish. I think snipe is unavoidable but manageable. I spent a long time leveling the tables even adding supports to stop the tables flexing but snipe is still there but its hardly noticeable but you can feel it. Through curiosity I might try adding a long flat melamine bed or torsion box as I've seen on youtube to see if that eliminates it but I won't loose sleep over it if I can't. There are plenty of work arounds. I was worried the day I got it that I couldn't lower the cutters below about 25mm. The handle just wouldn't turn until I noticed the knob on the right side. Set it to about 12mm and suddenly the handle could turn again. I felt like an idiot.
Is that repeat setting knob useful? I can't see its value. I'm not sure its even accurate. I haven't tested that but I have tested the depth gauge and it is spot on. Given the spiral cutters and the 5 year warranty I think this is the best value unit out there and I've researched all of them. I just hope longevity is good.

This page gives a pretty good insight into what causes snipe on small benchtop planers and why platforms are unlikely to eliminate snipe completely.

I had seen that site before but I did try the platform, made sure it was flat and level to the bed, I even waxed it and you're right the result was no better. So keeping the infeed and outfeed tables level with the bed does a good enough job. This is my first thicknesser so I'm still learning. Time to make something rather than thinking about snipe given that its manageable. I must admit I do get bit anal on things like this. I remember when I got my sawstop I spent days making sure every adjustment was perfect. I definitely suffer from that well known disease dial indicatoritis.

Toll van showed up today with two thicknessers, "I'm just delivering them, happy Christmas" I told him I'd take it & contact Timbecon to get it sorted. After he left I had a close look at the delivery labels & noticed one was for someone else in Macksville. Gave him a call & arranged to take it over to him. SWMBO said while I was out the Toll driver come back with a very worried look on his face. He was very relieved when she told him I'd sorted it & was taking it to the correct owner.
Now I just have to wait until February to open mine.

lol can only imagine the look on his face if the wife said "oh yeah he's just on his way to cash converters with one of those thicknessers as he didn't need two"
