Nope, They just said it was normal and I would have to deal with it.
Worse yet is I was using it on the weekend and it literally came to a grinding stop, it seems the blade or wheel that holds the blade has shifted and actually ground into the side of the machine.
I have yet to check it out, but may end up going for a drive and taking it back to them.

I buy a bit of stuff from Timbecon, and Carbatec, but no machinery yet from either.
I'm currently debating whether to buy a decent benchtop jointer, which yours clearly isn't.
Your experience with Timbecon isn't encouraging me to buy a benchtop jointer from Timbecon, partly because your machine is a lemon but more because of the unreasonable refusal to acknowledge that the machine is defective and especially because of the laughable advice from Timbecon that the fence movement you're experiencing is normal. My brief experience with jointers is limited to a recent el cheapo item which has a notoriously unsatisfactory fence but which is rock solid compared with yours. I have enough experience with other machinery to know that the function of clamping devices is to hold things in place. That's why they're called clamps: "The meaning of CLAMP is a device designed to bind or constrict or to press two or more parts together so as to hold them firmly." Clamp Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster
You might like to mention to Timbecon that their failure to respond adequately to your problem goes beyond your experience and is costing them future sales, because as matters stand with your purchase I wouldn't buy any of their machines and probably neither would anyone else reading of your experience. Alas, I suspect they don't care as most companies concerned about their reputations tend to respond positively to these sorts of negative reviews on product.review.com.au
"Garbage products and terrible customer supportDon't purchase their in-house brands - Sherwood, Torquata or Baladonia. They're utter crap. Manufactured to really poor standards with poor quality control and the service is awful when you try to get an issue sorted.
Save yourself the trouble of dealing with a company that sells substandard products. If you care about your craft and the quality of woodworking you perform, go elsewhere. As for the brands they don't have propriety of - Incra, Whittle Waxes, Luban, etc - you can get them cheaper from other retailers.
Purchased a Sherwood jointer: it was a pile of junk. The infeed and outfeed table were machined to such a poor quality that I could have done a better job with an angle grinder. Lost two or three days, from picking up and transporting the unit, then assembling and testing the unit, to disassembling, repacking and returning a pile of garbage to Timbecon's door."

In fairness to Timbecon, I must say that your experience is contrary to mine when I've returned a couple of much cheaper items (one of which didn't fit my saw bench and the other a lathe jaw that didn't fit another part they supplied) and Timbecon refunded without any problems, but if your experience is what I can expect in future from Timbecon I'll be a lot more cautious buying anything from them.Last edited by 419; 21st May 2023 at 12:55 AM. Unfortunately this tracks with my more recent experience with them. I’ve been buying stuff from them for years and they were always good to deal with, but a few recent interactions have left me less than impressed. It has really turned me off them. So I decided to only buy off the shelf brand stuff (ie avoid sherwood machinery due to potential issues like yours) but then I had a problem with a product at it took a monumental effort to get them to rectify.
I also experienced the same attempts by timbecon (and I’ve had it once with carbatec also) to give me the “oh that’s normal” line, when it so clearly isn’t. It’s almost like their playbook is to try that line on, see if the customer is inexperienced enough to believe it (problem solved!), and then if not make it difficult anyway.
Ok rant over. Scamper, you’re not alone in this situation and I feel for you having spent the cash and ending up with a poor product that gets in the way of enjoying your woodworking. Hope you get it resolved.
