Well that is still pretty cheap considering you get 4 new edges off each blade

And you only need to turn them every 6 months or so unless you hit a nail or machine really abrasive stuff

    Default Helical cutter head cleaning

    Hi All,

I heard when turning the carbide cutters it is possible a buildup of sawdust and resin can cause the cutters not to re-seat properly. Has anyone had this problem?

If it is a problem, how would you go about cleaning it?

    Cheers
    Chris.

I had that problem when i quickly changed all the cutters around on the weekend on a demonstration machine. I ended up with straight tracks down the timber. I ended up taking them out and just blowing the dust out and resetting them and it was again perfect. I doubt you would ever have problems in a normal environment. And if you have resin problem, a toothbrush and oven cleaner will fix that in no time.

Yep like lignum said build up of dust/resin if not cleaned off can lead to probs, one is the tracks, also possibility of cracking the insert due to the insert not seating nice and flat on the seat I give the seat a light wire brush and clean the inserts and all good
