    Default table roller removal

Wondering if anyone has had cause to remove the rollers on their planer/thicknesser?

A mate has had a Taiwanese brick outhouse Craftmaster 16" auto-planer since the 80s, he's trying to locate the manual, so am hoping for a bit of an exploded diagram for some guidance, but it might be a needle in a haystack job knowing his place. Assuming a lot of these are similar in construction, maybe someone else has encountered this beforehand?

One of the rollers appears seized after sitting in a corner under a sneaky leak in his shed. The screws operate the roller shaft on an eccentric, they slide fairly freely in the holes - at least after soaking in PB Blaster - they're locked with set screws on the top surface. Doesn't appear to be any obvious method to release the rollers from the cast iron table. Half tempted to hit the screw with a bit of oxy heat, to see what happens, knowing my luck, fatal.

    Bill

I have something similar. I'll have a look at the manual over the weekend to see if it shows an exploded view. Text me on 0488053553 and I will text you the pic.

Thanks yowie. The thing was also sold under the Rexon brand apparently! Did manage to free the roller a little the other day after a lot of spray every now and then and back and forth manipulation, while working on other bits, but it's hardly free spinning compared to the other one.

I would have thought the grub screws would come out, then twist and roll the pins out and the end of tge pins should come out of the bearing in the end of the roller. Most likely the cast table has grown where it’s been wet, and locked the pins. Heat would help in my opinion.

Have a trawl through the Grizzly site as they might have sold the same thing under their brand and they have a very good support page with manuals.
