I think the CT330-x is a rebranded Steel City 13" Helical Head thicknesser, which some report to have issues with grease. From what I have read it look like they pack a whole bunch of grease in the cutter head which then starts to come out when it warms up.
More info on the problem and the thicknesser here

Thanks for the link goller, very informative...... I must admit I'm a little peturbed that the main happy camper in those threads claims to have spent 4 hours cleaning the grease out of the cutter head & mechanism and still get the occasional bit coming out!!
This doesn't necessarily mean that the carbatec units have the same problem, it may actually be a failure in the gearbox seals. Time will tell.....
So any other new CT-330X owners out there care to post on their experiences?
Surely some had a play with their new toys over the weekend! 8-p

got a chance to give it a small run today and ended up with a small amount of grease on the timber, but not enough to really worry about yet, hopefully can use it some more next week & see what happens

As you know I got a replacement unit due to the oil/grease leaking and the new unit did the same thing.
After reading Goller's post and the link he supplied, thanks goller, I do believe that the problem is indeed an abundance of grease which when heated liquefies and runs onto the bottom plate.
My machine has now done around three hours work and the offending grease mess has all but disappeared.
Still happy with the unit and I am sorry if I startled people with my incorrect "gearbox seal" diagnosis.

is the issue with the oil a large one? how bad is the staining of the wood?

Emco Rex B 20 over-under 250mm planer-thicknesser
Hello everyone,
Has anyone got advice/experience on the Emco Rex B 20 over-under 250mm planer-thicknesser.
I have the chance of purchasing a secondhand one and it does seem to be one which will satisfy my needs which are not of an arduous nature although of course we all sometimes need to do just that bit more !!
There are many in the lightweight range but looking at them I doubt they are value for money.
