I been using the scothcbrite from ABtools for about the last 5 years.

Usually I buy one 8" scotchbrite wheel about every year alternating between medium and fine every 2nd year.

I like to get the 6 or 8 flap wheels but sometimes they only have the 4 flaps so I buy two and join them together.

I use the medium ones for rust, paint and small burr removal.
The fine wheels get used for brushed finish on Stainless, Al and brass.

SWMBO uses the fine one on some of he jewellery bibs and bobs.

Sounds like a plan Bob. The YouTube demos look great…but the Scotch-Brite wheels seem pretty rich. I think your approach looks really good.
I meant to ask….how do you attach them to your bench grinder…mine is i think 20mm dia.

you buy a buffing wheel spindle that has a female thread on one side and screws onto your grinder spindle, and the wheel screws onto the tapered tread on the other end - look at my photos again

Thanks Bob I looked a little closer at your pics and worked it out. i have ordered the fine ,med and course x 6 pads..so fingers crossed.

I have not used 3m wheels on a bench grinder, although I have used hundreds of their belts over the years, and discs on angle grinders and polishers never had a problem with them unlike some of the other "top" brands

I was using one whether 3M brand I dont know on my angle grinder removing severe case of rust on stair railings on the sea coast.
I didnt realise what a power job it was doing until I realised I couldnt see anymore, plastic face shield, personal glasses all with a ugly brown haze over them.
The downside was the 'blade cover' wouldnt fit and my finger tips show proof of.
