    Default Abbott ashby or Linishall

I'm in need of a grinder and I'm tossing up between an old Abbott ashby 200mm with new 915x50 multitool. Or a new Linishall 200mm with the equivalent linisher attachment.

Its largly for shaping & cleaning up metal parts, some woody stuff. And a bit of sharpening. Will prob get a wet sharpener later when I can.

Ive read many threads on the woes of manufacturing flaws in both grinders and attachments, so can anyone suggest which is the best option to avoid frigging around with run out ect? Or if there is another option I Havnt discovered?

    Thanks heaps

2850 rpm is a bit too fast for most wood stuff so don't count on doing too much woody stuff with it.

    I see there are two A&A 8" grinders, a 375W output and a 600W output Industrial model,.
You'd need the industrial model to drive the Multitool.

I tested the power output of some grinders a few years back and the A&A was the only one that stated both power input and output and exceeded the claimed power output.
Most of the claimed grinder powers are the input power so you can discount that by at least 30% to get the real output power.

I have a old A&A thats equivalent to the current industrial model.
Mine came with a Multitool but I moved the multi tool to a variable speed 3P Grinder and run wire and scotchbrite wheels on the A&A.

Don't know how good the new ones are.

My AA is two years old. Works well, basically vibration free, but the tool rests are only so-so. I have a wire wheel on one side and grind wheel on the other.

I have an A&A with multi-tool which is about 9-10 years old. The multi-tool was a real pain to get to track properly (read years), but now it is OK.

2850 RPM, 900W/600W. I would not consider anything with less power.

I'd stay clear of the Abbot -and be wary of the Turnbull.
