Adhesive for sticking graphite slip cloth
Hi all,
I am in the process of fitting some graphite slip cloth to the platen of a big boy belt sander. The question is: What type of adhesive is the best for doing this?. I am sure someone will have knowledge of this. Regards Ross

I would try contact adhesive, as it is not too difficult to remove in the future (acetone). But I would also try for a little bit of wraparound on the leading edge to minimise peel so you are not using glue alone to hold it in place-

Um generally you dont glue slip cloth down.
As far as I have seen it is mostly fixed at one end with the screws and a plate or washers where the original metal platten cover would have been fitted.
once under pressure it pretty well stays put.
I stand to be corrected.

Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.

Slip cloth
If your sander is a wide belt sander, you should always glue it with contact adhesive (sprayable type as it is easier to apply). There is very little heat transfer so it works very well. If it is a drum sander, the platen usually has facility for fixing the slip cloth (no glue required).
