    Default How to adjust Carbatec 635mm twin drum sander?

    Hi

    Does anyone know the correct method of adjusting a Carbatec (or H&F or similar) 24"/635mm twin drum sander to achieve correct drum to work table alignment. Mine is out by approx 2mm one end to the other. Does anyone have a handbook perhaps?

    I use a piece of 12mm float glass on the platen to set a constant datum.

    I then use a dial gauge in a home made dial gauge base that I use for thicknesser setup. Then it's easy to check for parallel & height differences

    Good info MP and I have actually alligned my thicknesser using a similar method to you but I happen to know that WTIK is actually after info on how or where he should adjust the table/drum for that specific type of dual drum sander. Should he be elongating holes to move the bearing retainers (doubt it) or slipping a cog or two on the connecting gear so that one side moves higher or lower wrt the other, or is there a better and much simpler method.

    By the way the question only relates to the first drum that remains fixed in day to day use not the rear drum that has a dial adjust at each end to adjust it wrt the front drum.
